I've also asked this myself when sight-reading it - fortunately, I haven't to learn it..  ;D

would be interesting, though...

Kaiwin...play the first 4 notes in the left hand...not only 3...so 5212 then right hand 2135...it makes this section easy as pie :)  good luck with the concerto it's a gem

Thanks for the advice, I figured out my final fingerings... I can now play 7 pages of the Rachmaninoff with the correct tempo ;D...
My final fingering for that measure is...
This is the Chord
Left
{51}52
Right
24135

I followed the no thumb on black keys rule :-D So far this fingering allowed me to play consistent..

I'll try out your fingering Andrew thanks! I Luv this concerto.
I noticed the version I have (The Yellow Book) does not have fingerings but it does give a hint on how it is divided. That is how I figured out my fingering. Hope this helps other people who are stuck on this concerto.

Now the question on pedaling, I'm thinking on pedaling the strong note in the beginning... Any one have any other decisions?

Could someone please elaborate on the fingerings in the arpeggiated section after the big chords. I find that I am having pains from stretching and it halts my practice session. I would extremely appreciate your help!Kaiwin tell me how you fingered your passages?

Ok. First of all you don't just stay in one place and strech all your fingers.. move your "Elbow" not your wrist, this will prevent yourself from getting tired. Ok for the first measure of that section my fingering is.

Left
5-1 52

Right
24135

Left
521

Right
14135

Hope this helps . Find a fingering that fits you. I don't have a 10th and nor you don't need one.

remember to move your elbow.

Thank you so much Kaiwin... and if you have any other advise or questions we should correspond since we are both learning it. Oh by the way I spent like two hours today and yesterday just figuring our the fingerings and writing them in. If helps when I make 3 note passages into four note thus not dividing between the hands the way they say in the book. Just curious what edition of music are you using?

Hey thats the same edition I'm using and I also have the Dover which also contains the Tchaikivsky 1st. You know what's funny I compared the editions and the Rach is exactly the same note for note, instructions and even spacing. Its like its been photocopied into the other edition. They are clearly reprinted from the same edition ???
